Average Age of Denture Patients | Jacksonville, FL

When we use the word “dentures,” you might think of a complete prosthetic set of teeth and gums that you can easily place in your mouth. While full or complete dentures are pretty much that, partial dentures are also very common. Since there are different dentures that many age groups might prefer, there’s no exact age for people to get dentures.

“Partial dentures are used if several teeth are missing, but nearby teeth remain intact,” says Colgate. The artificial teeth should blend seamlessly with the natural teeth, with little to no sign that they are artificial. This option is relatively popular among younger people who aren’t interested in or are not eligible for teeth implants.

Full dentures are more prevalent in individuals over the age of 45, and have lost teeth or are suffering from periodontal disease. A disease that “ damages the soft tissue and, without treatment, can destroy the bone that supports your teeth.” according to Mayo Clinic.

When it all comes down to it, the need for false teeth will ultimately depend on how well you care for your teeth. Some dentists will claim that adults tend to replace their teeth sometime between the ages of 40 and 49; however, many dentists will recommend dentures much earlier or later than that.
